What Is A Thread Lift?
A thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure for the face, neck, and/or jowls in which threads are passed under the skin via a needle. These threads have small cones or graspers on them which grab hold of the skin from under the surface and re-suspend the skin in a lifted and more youthful position.
How Does A Thread Lift Work?
Thread Lifts are done using local anesthesia so that patients do not feel pain from the use of the needle. As the threads are pulled through underneath the skin, the cone-shaped graspers take hold of the skin in various places. The thread is then manipulated to lift and tighten the skin. In addition to the lift, this procedure encourages the body’s own healing response to stimulate new collagen growth, which also aids in improving texture and smoothness.
Am I A Good Candidate for A Thread Lift?
If you are showing mild to moderate signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, sagginess, or loss of volume, then you may be a good candidate for a thread lift. The thread lift offers patients more subtle improvements, so patients with advanced signs of aging may need to select a more aggressive treatment.
How Long Does A Typical Treatment Take?
A typical thread lift treatment will last approximately 45 minutes. The treatment will begin with the numbing of the face with lidocaine. Once the numbing cream has taken effect, a small instrument called a cannula will be used to insert the threads in the appropriate areas necessary to lift the skin and smooth out wrinkles. At the conclusion of the treatment, patients can immediately return to their daily activities.
What Results Will I See?
Patients will see a subtle lifting and tightening of their skin. The tone, texture, and firmness of the skin will also improve. The production of new collagen will also help to soften lines and wrinkles and restore volume to the skin. Results can last from 2 to 3 years with this procedure.
Is There Any Downtime?
There is no downtime associated with the Thread Lift. After the treatment, patients can resume their daily activities. Some patients have reported mild redness and swelling which generally only lasts for the first few hours after the procedure. Patients will be asked to avoid rubbing their faces vigorously while washing their face for one week. Patients will also be advised to prop their head up when sleeping so that they don’t roll onto their face for long periods of time while sleeping. Aside from these few follow-up instructions, the patient is free to return to their daily schedule immediately after their Thread Lift procedure.
